Scriptural Reasoning
Scriptural Reasoning Sessions
In recent decades, religion has re-emerged as an important part of public and social life, giving rise to a wide range of new interfaith initiatives and conversations. One such initiative is Scriptural Reasoning (SR).
Scriptural Reasoning brings together people from different religious traditions to read and reflect on passages from their sacred scriptures. The aim is not to debate or reach agreement, but to encourage thoughtful dialogue, mutual respect, and a deeper understanding of one another’s beliefs and perspectives. Through shared discussion, participants are able to engage with contemporary ethical, spiritual, and social issues in a welcoming and open environment.
In 2019, Dr Mohammed Gamal Abdelnour, Imam of Bath Mosque, launched a series of Scriptural Reasoning sessions at the mosque. The sessions explore a variety of themes, including faith and science, spirituality, ethics, and current social concerns.
For further information or to reserve a place at one of the sessions, please contact the Imam at: imam@bathmosque.org.uk.
